12th Swindon Air Scout Troop      AirScoutBadge.JPG

Scouts are the teenage members of the Group and meet as a Troop. The Scout Troop caters for teenagers from approximately 10½ to 14 years of age. The Troop meets on a Thursday night from 7.30pm until 9.15pm in Old Town, Swindon. It is a mixed membership troop accepting both male and female members. The Scout Troop is the third and final section in the Scout Group.
We are
AIR SCOUTS . Air Scouting is a branch of Scouting, not a separate organisation. It is based on the same fundamental Scouting Aims & Methods. Air Scouts follow the core balanced programme but then add a aeronautical twist to the programme and activities. It is not training for an Air Force career, although Air Scout training can be very useful for young people who are so interested. Air Scouts can be recognised by their distinctive light blue (instead of green) uniform shirts and their RAF blue berets. The Troop runs a challenging progressive programme which meets the needs of all Scouts no matter where their abilities lie. To support this training programme the Scouts take part in many exciting activities and you can read about some of them or view the Scouts in action in their photo gallery. The Scouts meet once a week for activities and fun. We meet each week, apart from school holidays. Many of our activities are outdoors, including hiking, cycling, canoeing and climbing. The Scouts are all encouraged to work towards their Challenges and Activity Badges, in addition to other traditional badge work. We normally have at least 3 camps each year.
